Repeat-client Edelman, contacted Govan Brown in 2010 to renovate their newly leased spaced. Their new office, located in Toronto’s Discovery District, was outfitted with all the amenities befitting a dynamic workspace.  Edelman wanted to transition to an open workspace to encourage employee collaboration and creativity. The design of the space included many open offices, workstations meeting and boardrooms. A 2,100 square foot exterior rooftop patio was  factored into the design to complement the open atmosphere of the

space. Other employee-oriented amenities included a kitchen, lounge and cafeteria. It was also crucial for Edelman to build an easily-accessible office space, therefore it was essential to include handicap lifts and access ramps. The project required installation of many cosmetic elements which included glass office fronts, upgraded fixtures and polished concrete floors to name a few. The project was given a strict and tight deadline as Edelman  employees had  to  be  relocated in  conjunction with the expiry of  their lease, so there was

no room for error or delays. Despite this mitigating factor, we were able to complete the project on time and within budget. Edelman was happy to have moved their employees into the new location without any delays and GovanBrown was elated to have completed this complex retrofit in such a limited amount time.  The success of this project secured our position as construction managers to build Edelman’s new offices in Calgary.
