In 2002, Govan Brown was given the unique task of developing a unified office space for four separate companies; Brascan, Noranda, Falconbridge and Brookfield. Located in the heart of downtown Toronto in the prestigious Brookfield Place, formerly known as BCE place, the new quadruple-office comprised of two floors and a total of 65,000 square feet of space. The space selected was in the historically designated section of Brookfield place, appropriate, considering Govan Brown had recently completed work in the space prior to the BNFB

project. The designated BNFB space required an extensive amount of work to satisfy the needs of all four offices. Included in the floor plan was a computer centre, communications rooms, server rooms, boardrooms and meeting rooms. Bearing in mind the amount of mechanical and electrical work required to properly outfit the aforementioned computer, server and communications rooms, Govan Brown was able to integrate an incredible amount  of  the existing infrastructure  into  the  new facility; saving money in the  process. Furthermore,

our team ensured the environmentally sensitive disposal of waste. Impressive when considering the project took place in the pre-LEED era. Govan Brown has always enjoyed a reputation as innovator in the realm of construction manage-ment. As demonstrated in the Brascan Noranda Falconbridge Brookfield project, Govan Brown has been dedicated to environmental-friendly waste disposal even prior to the introduction of LEED Standards.
