Govan Brown recently completed a project on the 21st floor of the TD Tower in downtown Toronto. This project was a significant milestone for our firm as it received our organization’s first LEED Platinum Certification. The accreditation comes on the heels of many years of conservation and energy-efficient efforts and protocols. The  25,000  square foot space was dedicated to financial office space. However, as mentioned, the

space is unique compared to other offices of a similar nature due to eco-friendly construction methods and installations. Included in LEED Platinum efforts are energy saving lighting; low emission, non-toxic carpet and paints; furniture made from regional and recycled materials; water efficient toilets and fixtures; dust  mitigation and control; segregated material waste management; humidity sensors and air quality control.

As a leader in the implementation of LEED practices, it was very rewarding to have finally received a platinum accreditation. TD’s new space was completed on time and on budget and hopefully serves as an inspiration to future environmentally friendly projects.
