In 2007, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) retained Govan Brown to renovate 22,000 square feet and three floors of their newly leased space. Located near constitution square in Ottawa, NSERC’s new offices occupy the second, eleventh and thirteenth floors of the tower.  As general contractors, we were in charge of completing some of the base building renovations as well as executing the interior fit  up.  Along with fitting up the

new space with traditional office amenities such as open and closed offices, we were also tasked with building a new Master Control Room (MCR). The MCR required extensive mechanical and electrical work as it was to act as a unified space for what was several separate existing communications and computer rooms. Other project details included having to complete the space in phases. Phased  construction and careful coordination with trades and the client ensured that

NSERC’s employees could move in on time and in proper succession. Govan Brown was happy to do a project for the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. We, ourselves are dedicated to furthering the cultural capital of our nation and are proud to partner with an organization that promotes education.
