In 2007, Delcan decided to expand their Ottawa location into an adjacent space. The project was completed while the original Delcan office was still occupied; it was crucial that the construction did not disrupt the staff. The project took roughly five months to complete and during that time, the client and designers worked out of the area. It was the responsibility of our construction team to communicate effectively to ensure the satisfaction of our client. As  is  usually  the  case,  it  was  of   the  utmost  importance to complete this project

on schedule. Since the client had already begun to pay rent on the adjacent space, there was added incentive to complete the project in a timely fashion. However, the need for haste did not impede our ability to conduct a fit-out free of disruption. To avoid disturbing staff, temporary partitions were erected to separate the project space from the office space. Furthermore, the final connection between spaces was completed in the evening. Specific details of the expansion included extending the staff area and the creation of shower

facilities for the comfort of employees. Completed in May of 2008, the Delcan Project was accomplished on time and on budget. Govan Brown has proven time and again our ability to maintain lines of communication during the construction process. For the Delcan expansion project, our client was unable to be on site often so it was crucial that we communicated effectively to ensure the successful collaboration of all parties involved.
