In June of 2013, Calgary and other areas of Southern Alberta were drastically affected by extensive flooding. Over the span of a couple of weeks, floods had affected almost  every  resident  and  business in the region. CIBC High River was one of the many locations damaged by the destructive events and subsequently retained the construction  management  services of  Govan  Brown to oversee the remediation of their basement and main floors. Given  the nature of the  damage and the  importance of CIBC's business, Govan

Brown was asked to complete the project on an accelerated  schedule. The first four weeks were dedicated to abatement; mold removal and air purification. It was vital that, before replacing the floor, we had extracted anything that may adversely affect the quality of the new material or the health of staff and patrons. After completing the abatement, our team tore up the main floor to add a layer of cement to the basement. The cement is to act as a safeguard; should this unfortunate event reoccur, the damage will be less

significant. The next four weeks were dedicated to installing a new water drainage system to deal with excess water and replacing the floor with new tiles. In short span of just over two months, our team was able to completely renovate and abate the damaged areas and replace them with a finished product that fit CIBC's brand.
