After the successful completion of their store in Calgary’s The CORE shopping centre, Holt Renfrew retained Govan Brown to outfit their flagship location with a boutique called Chantecaille. The small, in-store boutique comprises of a modest 225 square feet. Considering construction on the Holt Renfrew had finished prior to the Chantecaille project, Govan Brown was asked to construct this section of the store while the rest of the space was operational. As part of a rebranding effort, the Chantecaille project entailed primarily cosmetic   work. New fixtures, high-end  millwork,

mosaic and glass bead coverings were installed to modernize the aesthetic. Notably, the work area was small and required work both during the day and at night to avoid disturbing customers. Furthermore, since we conducted most of this project in the evenings, our team had to coordinate a strict schedule with the store’s security services. Other accomplishments for this project included our ability to reduce our client’s construction costs. We reused portions of existing millwork cabinets, salvaged  existing  lighting fixtures and   sourced alternate   furniture

components to be used rather than purchasing new materials. With all these strategies in place, we were able to maintain the budget while implementing the new store design without compromising its integrity. Govan Brown and Holt Renfrew have maintained a productive relationship over the years having completed their store in Calgary’s Eaton Centre and Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre.
