In 2009, Buck Consultants, a Xerox company, retained Govan Brown to build-out one and a half floors of the Royal Bank Dexia building. The new offices were built with the building’s LEED standards in mind. The entire project comprised of 32,000 square feet and took approximately five months to complete. By the end of the project, we were able to deliver a fully detailed and completed space to Buck Consultants. The main design element that
needed to be tackled in the Buck project was the raised floor. As has been a trend for many offices lately, much of Buck’s space was built on a raised floor. The raised floor, which housed an assortment of electrical and mechanical elements, required its own HVAC distribution systems to ensure that the elements beneath the floor did not overheat. Further alterations for the access floor included having to accommodate the porce-
lain tile floor finishes in the reception area. This aesthetic feature is a prime example of our ability to accommodate both functional and design elements in the construction of a space. Buck Consultants and Xerox as a whole have been dedicated clients of Govan Brown for many years. We were happy to deliver a project worthy of their esteemed standards.
